Guide to Trash Collection and Recycling
1. Household Trash: Our trash service is for household trash only during our regularly scheduled route. We cannot do garage or basement cleanouts on your regular day. All trash must be in bags, as we are not able to dump barrels of loose trash over the sides of the truck. Absolutely no yard waste, brush, dirt, stones or cement blocks will be taken during your scheduled day. These extra cleanups can be scheduled on a separate day.
2. Bottles, Cans, Jars Recycling: We will leave a 30-gallon transparent plastic bag for bottles, cans, glass jars, plastic or aluminum food containers and aluminum foil ONLY. These items should be empty and lightly rinsed. They do not need to be washed. Plastic shopping bags and other non-listed items DO NOT belong in these recycling bags. Plastic shopping bags can always be returned to most grocery stores for recycling.
3. Cardboard and Paper Recycling: Please flatten all cardboard boxes larger than a shoe or cereal box as they take up a tremendous amount of space on the truck. Place newspapers, magazines, paper and junk mail in paper bags (or cardboard box) so they are secure an dont fly out of the truck. Remove all plastic and Styrofoam from any packaging; they belong in the regular trash.
4. Refrigerators, Freezers, Water Coolers, Air Conditioners and Dehumidifiers: Please call to schedule pick-up. The town of Little Compton charges a fee for these items and we will need to obtain a receipt prior to transport to the Transfer Station.
